Each piece is shaped by Florentin and his team in his Cumbria workshop - using traditional joinery, hand tools, and intuitive craftsmanship - no templates, no shortcuts.
It’s slow, expressive work that transforms reclaimed timber into functional, one-off works of art.
Description
The Berry Pomeroy Sideboard
Reclaimed | Handmade | One-of-a-Kind
"I was once part of an Icelandic harbour warehouse – built in the 1940s from local birch and pine, layered in sea-weathered paint and battered by decades of wind and cargo. I held up nets, crates, ropes, and boots through long Arctic winters. Now I’m a sideboard – broad, grounded, and ready to hold quieter things."
Each Berry Pomeroy Sideboard is handmade from reclaimed timber sourced from a mid-20th-century shipping warehouse on Iceland’s south coast. The wood is a mix of native birch and slow-grown pine, selected for its hardiness in harsh maritime climates, and naturally aged through salt, wind and time.
The sideboard’s front face features sections of these original boards – lightly restored but never overworked – meaning areas of original paint, grain scarring, or sun-bleached tone are intentionally left intact. Some panels show hints of the old industrial palette: seaworn greens, faded blues, and muted earth tones layered over decades.
Florentin, our master craftsman in Cumbria, hand-builds each piece in small batches. The form is simple and functional: two spacious drawers above, and a substantial internal compartment behind double doors, all enclosed in a solid timber carcass. Nothing added without purpose. Nothing smoothed into sameness.
Just 40 Berry Pomeroy Sideboards have been made by Florentin and his team.
This is furniture that remembers where it came from – made to be used, and made to endure.
Please note: No two sideboards are the same. Variations in paint, grain and surface marks are a deliberate part of the material’s reclaimed story.

Care instructions
Our reclaimed wood pieces are made to last - and they don’t ask for much in return.
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth regularly to remove dust.
- Avoid harsh cleaners or polishes - a damp cloth with mild soap is all you’ll ever need for deeper cleans.
- Keep out of direct sunlight and away from strong heat sources to protect the natural finish and avoid warping.
- A touch of natural wax once or twice a year will help nourish the wood and enhance its character.
These chairs have already lived long, eventful lives. A little care will ensure they continue to for decades to come.
