"I was once thick oak and hickory floorboards in a 1930s Pittsburgh steel mill - worn smooth by the steady rhythm of machines and countless workers’ footsteps. Years of heavy use gave me a rugged texture and quiet strength beneath the surface. Now I’m a nightstand - pared back and purposeful, built to stand by you through every night and morning."

Each Chillingham Nightstand is handmade from reclaimed American oak and hickory, salvaged from industrial floors in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Oak brings durability and a warm, deep grain, while hickory adds strength with its distinctive contrast and resilience; together they create a solid foundation fit for everyday use.

The original wood carries marks from its past life: subtle scratches, colour shifts, and natural imperfections that tell a story of decades in heavy industry. These are not flaws but a testament to the history embedded in each piece, making every nightstand unmistakably unique.

Florentin and his team craft each nightstand by hand in Cumbria. The design is simple yet robust - two solid wooden panels connected by powder-coated iron brackets, forming a functional piece with industrial character. Every joint and surface is carefully finished to ensure lasting strength and practical use, with nothing added or removed without purpose.

Only 120 Chillingham Nightstands have been made.
