Each piece is shaped by Florentin and his team in his Cumbria workshop - using traditional joinery, hand tools, and intuitive craftsmanship - no templates, no shortcuts.
It’s slow, expressive work that transforms reclaimed timber into functional, one-off works of art.
Description
The Pluckley Sideboard
Reclaimed | Handmade | One-of-a-Kind
"I was once a sturdy church pew in 1940s Kent; crafted from solid English oak and ash, built to support quiet congregation and timeless gatherings. Decades of whispered prayers and worn hymnals gave me deep grain textures and a steady warmth beneath the surface. Now I’m a sideboard - robust, purposeful, and ready to hold the moments of your everyday life."
Each Pluckley Sideboard is handmade from reclaimed English oak and ash, sourced from decommissioned church pews in rural Kent. English oak offers strength and durability with a rich, warm hue, while ash lends a subtle contrast with its pale, open grain - together they create a balance of resilience and character that stands the test of time.
You may notice traces of my past life in my finish - gentle scars, color shifts, and knots that tell stories of years gone by. These aren’t imperfections but marks of authenticity, features that make each piece unmistakably unique.
Crafted by Florentin and his team in Cumbria, every sideboard is built with intention and care. No detail is superfluous; every joint and surface is designed for lasting strength and daily use. The three drawers and spacious cabinet provide practical storage while showcasing the beauty of reclaimed hardwood.
Only 60 Pluckley Sideboards have been made.
This is furniture that remembers where it came from - made to be used, and made to endure.
Please note: No two sideboards are exactly alike. Variations in grain, tone and finish are intentional and part of what makes each Pluckley Sideboard unique.
